SplitCircle Privacy Policy

1. Our Fundamental Privacy Commitment

SplitCircle (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is dedicated to protecting the privacy and financial autonomy of all users. Unlike advertising-driven platforms, SplitCircle does not monetize personal financial records, does not sell user contact lists to third-party data brokers, and does not deploy behavioral ad trackers.

2. Non-Indexability of Private Expense Records

We enforce strict architectural safeguards to ensure that your financial activity remains confidential:

  • Authenticated Route Isolation: All dashboard views, group circles, personal ledgers, payment requests, and receipt images require valid cryptographically signed session tokens.
  • Search Engine Protection: All private application endpoints explicitly return X-Robots-Tag: noindex, nofollow headers and HTML metadata, preventing search crawlers (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) from discovering or indexing personal member names, debts, or transactions.
  • Robots Exclusion: Private URLs are explicitly disallowed in our robots.txt protocol.

3. Information We Collect and How It Is Used

We only collect data strictly necessary to provide expense splitting functionality:

Account Credentials

Your email address, full name, and salted & hashed password for identity verification.

Shared Group Ledgers

Circle names, expense titles, amounts, itemizations, split proportions, and receipt URLs.

Optional Payment Identifiers

User-supplied eSewa ID, Khalti ID, or Fonepay QR image URLs used strictly to facilitate peer settlement.

Anonymous Calculator Usage

Calculations performed on the Free Bill Splitter (/bill-splitter) are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to or stored on our servers.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

You maintain total ownership of your account. Circle administrators can remove members or delete circles at any time. Users may request complete account and data deletion by contacting our administrative team.
